Shades of Blessings

Experience the blessings! (Deuteronomy 28:2)

Today was one of those cool, crisp mornings. It was the kind of day that you open your window to allow the cool breeze to blow across your face. So I did. But something else caught my attention. It was the beautiful shades of the leaves. The trees are now showing signs of fall, one of the most beautiful times of the year. My thoughts quickly changed to meditate on how awesome God is and just like the different colors of fall, so are His blessings.

During this season, we see shades of red, orange, yellow, pale green and even shades of brown. All of which provide a medley of beauty. The changes in color happen gradually. We usually don't notice the change until one day we realize that a change has occurred. God's blessings are sort of that way. His blessings sometimes don't appear at first to the naked eye, but nevertheless change is taking place. And then one day, there it is! We can see the beauty of what He has done in our lives. Of course, it's not just one thing. It's many things that come in different ways just when we need them to appear most.

I want to encourage you today look for the different shades of blessings in your life. Things like health, family, friends, a job, a sound mind, protection and peace, just to name a few, are blessings that we overlook sometimes. Open the window of your heart, look out, look closely and what do you see? You too, will see the many shades of God's blessings. As you yield yourself to God, expect to see even more colorful medleys (blessings) in your life. I know I have.
